- ¾ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled just until opaque
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg room temperature
- 1 egg yolk room temperature
- 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl for 2 minutes.
- Add vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk, whisk until light and creamy.
- Mix in flour, baking soda, corn starch, and salt until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
- Scoop about 1/4 cup of dough per cookie, roll into balls, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Place cookie dough 3 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until edges are golden and centers are slightly undercooked.
- Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Notes
For chewier cookies, do not overbake them. They will set as they cool.
Chilling the dough helps the cookies maintain their shape while baking.
Feel free to add nuts or different types of chocolate chips for variety.
