Description

Enjoy the delightful One Bowl Chocolate Cake, a quick and easy dessert that combines irresistible chocolate flavor with simple prep. This cake is perfect for any occasion, bringing comfort and joy to your table with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Prepare an 8-inch square baking pan by buttering and lining it with parchment paper, extending it up the sides. Butter the parchment and dust lightly with flour, then set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Whisk in egg, buttermilk, hot water, and vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and gently tap it on the counter to eliminate air bubbles.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. Leave the cake in the pan.
  6. Prepare the One Minute Chocolate Frosting as per the instructions provided.
  7. Once both the frosting and the cake are warm, pour the frosting over the cake and let it set for at least 2 hours before slicing.
  8. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

Make sure to measure ingredients accurately for the best results.
Using hot water helps to enhance the flavor of the cocoa powder.
For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of espresso powder to the batter.
