Description

These pumpkin puff pastry twists feature a delicious pumpkin filling wrapped in flaky pastry, making them a fantastic choice for parties or a cozy snack. With easy preparation and delightful flavors, they are sure to please anyone seeking a tasty homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 4 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 cup canned plain pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • coarse sugar, optional
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix the egg and water together until smooth, then set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the canned pumpkin, granulated sugar, and pumpkin pie spice, blending until well mixed.
  • Evenly distribute the pumpkin mixture onto the four puff pastry sheets, spreading it out evenly.
  • Starting from one end, roll the pastry over the pumpkin filling. Cut down the center with a sharp knife, leaving the top 1 inch uncut. Twist the two pieces together with the filling side up and shape into a circle, pressing the ends together.
  • Place the twisted pastries on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart for rising.
  • Lightly brush the twists with the egg wash and optionally sprinkle coarse sugar on top for added crunch.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  • After baking, let the pastries cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm pastries and serve immediately.

Notes

Make sure to keep the filling side facing up while twisting to retain the filling inside.
You can experiment with different spices if you like, such as cinnamon or nutmeg for added flavor.
These pastries taste best when served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
