Description

This Cherry Cobbler is a sweet treat featuring juicy cherries and a buttery batter, perfect for family gatherings or a comforting dessert at home.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherry filling by combining sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and almond extract in a saucepan. Stir in the cherries and cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
  2. Melt the butter by placing pieces in a baking dish and placing it in a preheated oven at 350°F until melted.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until just mixed.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, smoothing it evenly.
  5. Spoon the cherry mixture over the batter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of ice cream.
