Instructions
- Prepare the cherry filling by combining sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and almond extract in a saucepan. Stir in the cherries and cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Melt the butter by placing pieces in a baking dish and placing it in a preheated oven at 350°F until melted.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until just mixed.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, smoothing it evenly.
- Spoon the cherry mixture over the batter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of ice cream.
