Description

This Easy Blueberry Sauce delivers a burst of flavor with minimal effort. It’s made with juicy blueberries, sugar, and a hint of lemon juice, making it an ideal topping for desserts or breakfast. A quick and delightful addition to any meal!


Ingredients

  • 4 cups (560 g) blueberries
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) water
  • ⅓ cup (67 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) salted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine blueberries, ¼ cup water, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir frequently until the blueberries release their juices, about 5-7 minutes, using a spoon or spatula to help break them down.
  3. In a small dish, whisk cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water until well combined.
  4. Add the cornstarch mixture to the blueberry mixture and stir well.
  5. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil while stirring constantly, then reduce heat and simmer until the sauce coats the bottom of a metal spoon.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter melts.
  7. Serve warm, adjusting the sauce's consistency with extra water if needed.

Notes

The sauce is best enjoyed warm.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Feel free to adjust sugar based on the sweetness of blueberries.
