Description

This Peach Crisp showcases sweet, juicy peaches topped with a delightful oat crumble. It’s an easy, mouthwatering dessert that’s perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • dash of ground nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, cold, diced into small chunks
  • 3 1/2 pounds fresh peaches, peeled, cored and sliced about 3/4 inch thick
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • dash of salt
  • dash of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Peel the peaches and slice them into ¾ inch thick slices. Place the peach slices in a medium bowl and mix with ¼ cup sugar. Let them sit for 20 minutes to draw out the juice.
  2. In another bowl, combine all topping ingredients. Use a pastry blender or fork to cut in the butter until the mixture resembles small crumbs. Refrigerate the topping.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Drain the peaches, saving the peach juice in a separate bowl. Place the peaches in a large bowl.
  5. Measure out ¼ cup of the reserved peach juice and combine it with flour, lemon juice, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Pour this mixture over the peaches and toss to coat well.
  6. Transfer the peach mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish and evenly sprinkle the oat topping over it.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and set.
  8. Once baked, allow the crisp to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy it warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the topping mixture.
Ensure that the peaches are ripe for maximum sweetness and flavor.
Serve warm or at room temperature, with ice cream or whipped cream for added decadence.
