Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- ½ cup brandy or fruit liqueur
- 750 ml bottle red wine or white wine
- 2 cups fresh fruit such as citrus slices, berries, peaches, apples, etc. sliced or chopped as needed
- Ice or use frozen fruit
- Sparkling water or ginger ale to taste
Instructions
- Pour the sugar, orange juice, and brandy into a quart-sized pitcher and stir for about 1 minute until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the red or white wine and fruit to the pitcher. Stir until everything is mixed well.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 12 hours. If chilling for more than 2 hours, it’s best to add the fruit later to avoid discoloration.
- Serve the sangria over ice and add sparkling water or ginger ale according to your taste.
Notes
Adjust the sugar to taste depending on the sweetness of the fruit used.
For a colorful presentation, consider a mix of fruits like berries, oranges, and peaches.
This can be made a day ahead, just remember to add the fruit closer to serving.
